Eavesdropping

Sometimes it's actually fun to have our play room next door to our master bedroom. For instance, today I was folding and putting away laundry in my room, while Landon and Emma were getting ready to play a Wii game in the play room. The game was Madden NFL 11 (a football game) Now Landon, being the only boy in the family, with three sisters doesn't get the opportunity to play this game too often. Unless Rob is available to play, he has a friend over, or he somehow sweet talks one of his sisters into playing with him, he is kind of out of luck. I had the benefit of "eavesdropping" and enjoying a little conversation between the siblings. It went something like this:

Landon: "Now Emma, we have to decide which team we want to be and which team we want to play against."

Emma: "o.k., fine."

Landon: "We have the Cowboys, they have won the most Super Bowls next to the Saints, so I think we should choose them and then an easy team to play against."

Emma: disinterested, "Fine, whatever."

Landon: "Well which do you want to choose?" (he goes on telling Emma all of these impressive football facts that are totally lost on the mind of his 9 yr. old little sister).

Finally Emma answers....."Well Landon, let me see what their outfits look like."

Landon: in a horrified, disbelieving voice, "Emma, are you serious? Does it really matter?"

Emma: "Of course it matters, now let me see the outfits!"

Landon: defeated, "O.k., but they are not outfits, they are uniforms!!!"

Landon is currently, patiently, training Emma in the game of football. Emma is patiently, learning from her older brother the more masculine side of life. Bless them both for trying!!!
