Girl's Camp

Last Monday Lauren I packed up the Suburban and left bright and early for Girl's Camp. We spent four very hotttttt full days at a YMCA camp about 40 min away from home. Every summer our church does a camp for just girls ages 12 to 18 and their leaders. I have been blessed to go last year and this year with Lauren and can't wait to go with Emma and Eden when their time comes! The theme was "Survivor" and most of their activities were related to that. We had the opportunity to do things like go on a 5 mile hike, canoeing, swimming in the lake, water baseball/kickball, had spiritual devotionals and other great activities. How can you not have fun with 200 other girls around? We had 8 girls and 3 leaders come from our church Branch in Mineral Wells. One of the girls was baptized along with her mom and brother this Saturday and it was awesome! We were also fortunate to have my father-in-law Bob come out for a day and night. Lauren really thought this was neat and enjoyed spending time with her grandpa at camp. I was assigned the task along with another lady to certify the 2nd year girls in things like predicting the weather by learning about clouds, learning to build different types of fires, and water purification. I learned a lot from teaching and tried to make it fun along the way. We built edible fires and played pictionary drawing different types of clouds with whipped cream. Rob came up one evening and brought the girls some much needed Popsicles. I don't know if I have ever sweat so much. We only had a roof over our heads, no walls or anything, so we had a lot of unwelcome friends! I discovered a tick had burrowed on my back one night while showering- Yikes! I think our hottest day was around 112 degrees so water was definitely our best friend. The food was actually pretty good and it was nice to not have to cook!

Camp was a great experience and I am so thankful to go with one of my very best friends, my daughter!
