We went to Progresso Mexico for our first stop. It is in the Yucatan Peninsula. (O.k. I have given up on my spelling for now, don't make fun)We went to some ancient ruins that I don't remember how to spell. It was really awesome and very hot!!!It was about a two hour ride on a bus and I really enjoyed looking out the window at the houses, buildings, and people there. Our tour guide spoke Spanish, Mayan, and a little broken English. He was very knowledgeable, but I had a hard time understanding him. I want to study this area of the world on my own and what life was like for these ancient Mayans. They did a lot of human sacrifices which is very interesting. They still have some villages there where the people only speak Mayan, dress in the traditional clothing, and live in the traditional ways. I really would love to visit a place like that. I have travel in my blood now and I want more.
We stopped by a little village and bought some things from some young Mayan boys. We also bought some items at the ruins. There was a little old woman who was very short and dressed in the traditional Mayan dress. I fell in love with her and bought a homemade handkerchief from her. We took some pictures of her. She was precious.(I'll post some of these later, I am a little overwhelmed with everything right now- too much to do, too little time)
I loved being able to lay out on the ship and soak in the warmth of the sun. it was so relaxing, I had not a care in the world. Vacations are the best. I told Rob we really need to travel a whole lot more.
There's my guy! I love spending time with Rob. We have such a good time together. I am reminded how lucky I am to have my best friend with me forever.
We had some of the people on the cruise ask us if we were honeymooners. I felt like saying yes, but we are going on 13 years on May the fourth. We are very lucky to have each other and still feel like newlyweds most of the time.
One of the workers on the ship was visiting with us. I told him we have four children at home. He got a sparkle in his eye and said that I was a very rich woman. Rob and I both took that as meaning I am very blessed because of my children. He expressed his wishes to someday have a family. He was right we are rich because of our family.
