Last night, for Family Home Evening, we went over to our friends house. Rob is their home teacher and Ron is our home teacher, so it works out quite nice. Ron Crouch, the dad, is a real cowboy! He works on a large ranch with beautiful horses every day. They have two little cowboys. Cache, who is 6 yrs. old and Adam who is 4 yrs. old. They were awesome to help our kids out with the horses and it was so fun to see Cache with his horse. He is amazing! The kids started out by feeding a few of the foals. Eden laughed a lot because it tickled. Landon warmed up to his horse very quickly and had him galloping in no time. His horse was only 4 yrs. old and was extremely intelligent and obedient. Ron said that he had been born prematurely and the owner had been given a choice whether or not to put him down. He decided to give him a chance. The horse spent months hooked up to IVs in the equine hospital. He really is a miracle! Emma wanted to be like Landon and soon figured out how to get her horse to trot and gallop. She had a hard time at first getting "Beau" to go, but after Ron put Cache's spurs on her boots, she was having a blast! Eden also rode Beau. He was an older horse who had belonged to a famous cowgirl. He was very safe and very sweet! I don't know how many times we heard from the kids what a great time they were having. We could tell how true that was by their huge smiles. They got to ride in a very nice arena and Landon even got to chase an electronic calf. He learned a lot and we were amazed at how smart the horses are. Lauren missed out because she had band practice, but I know she would have loved it just as much as the other kids. I am so thankful for the Crouch family and their kindness and friendship to us. They are an awesome example to our family and provided a fabulous opportunity for our kids!
