Emma made the leap to double digits this weekend! She told us she does not want to grow up and and would rather just stay 9 and live with mom and dad forever. Rob told her that Heavenly Father makes a special change in us as we grow older that makes us want to leave our parents and go out on our own. I think she bought it because later she told me she was ok with turning 10 and might as well be happy about it. She said she would look pretty funny if she was all grown up and said to everyone she was only 9 years old. She will just have Rob and I live with her when she is married and has kids of her own. How sweet is that? Emma wanted a sock monkey more than anything and so grandma & grandpa Wendt took care of that. She was so excited when she opened the gift bag and there was her green sock monkey. She immediately named him Steven, but he goes by Steve for short. I thought I had plenty of candles for her B-day cake, but it turned out I was two short. We went ahead and used eight, yes we can count.
Emma's cousin Sadie is just one day younger than her, so they had a birthday party for Sadie Sat. evening. Emma adores her cousin Sadie as they are two peas in a pod for sure. The party was fun and it was cute to see the girls celebrating their birthdays together. We are so proud of our Emma Makay and the young lady she is becoming. Although it can be sad to see your kids grow up it is also very rewarding and exciting! We can't wait to see what Emma does in her next 10 years.
