My second project was sanding down an early 90's looking wood stand that holds a world globe. I got it several months back at a thrift store for $15 bucks. It had some scratches and other injuries and I thought it always needed a little tweaking to make it look, a little more "original." So I took the trusty electric sander (one of my very best friends) and made the piece my own. After my right hand went completely numb (I still don't think it is functioning the way it should be after all that sanding)I stepped back and said, "enough." I think it gives it a more rustic look and I am pretty happy with it.
Next up was a fun little job. I took some of the flowers Rob had given me for Easter and made an arrangement out of them in a glass vase that I also found at the thrift store. I absolutely love fresh flowers in my home, I just wish I could get them to last a bit longer. It is a dream of mine to have a field full of flowers so that I could practice making arrangements whenever I so desired. Maybe I should just plough up the back yard and plant some.

The last project I finished was fixing a side table that our adorable yet sometimes exasperating dog ruined. (by the way, this is not the only piece of furniture she decided to use as a teething toy) Evangeline had chewed up one of the sides of the table and I just couldn't stand to look at it anymore. It used to be painted all black. I was indecisive on whether to paint it again, all black, or use another color. Then I remembered my trusty old pal. I took that electric sander and went to town in my very own glorious "project palace," a.k.a. the back yard! I am sure the neighbors were beginning to wonder when I was gonna be finished already. The table now reflects a more antiqued, rustic look. The hubby likes it and more importantly, so does the the wifey. Now stay away from my furniture Evangeline!
